Monthly Credit Score Update - February 2004 (+7 -> 691)
Eloan now gave me a credit score of 691 now, a 7 point jump from last month's 684 and a number higher than 45% of US consumers.
As I blogged earlier, Providian now offers free credit score from TransUnion to its customers. My score as of February 15, 2004 was 695. It appears that the Eloan score, though not affiliated to any one of the three major credit agencies, is still precise enough.
As I can expect, the main drag of my credit score is still my taking advantage of the 12-month 0% APR offer in ShareBuilder account. Although I made a major payoff of $1,400 (out of a credit line of $2,500) in late February, it does not positively affect my credit score. Of course I can understand it can be a timing issue as of when FirstUSA reported the balance to credit agencies.
Frankly speaking, I am not very much concerned of my credit score now. It is more a past-time or a thing out of curiosity to know my credit score every month. I will still keep the monthly habit of blogging about my credit score though.
