I can really see Citi wants more people to use its Dividend Platinum Select® Card. Already very generous, this card offers 5% cashback on grocery, drugstore and gas station purchases, and 1% cashback on all other purchases up to an annual limit of $300. I also reported that once you become a customer, Citi wants to cross-sell their products like Credit Protector Program using fat incentives.
Today I received a mail from Citi notifying me some changes of the terms of the Dividend Platinum Select® Card. The main changes are:
1) Cash advance is not entitled to 1% cashback
2) Balance transfer above $1,500 earns a flat cashback of $5 per transaction
3) Reward Dollars can be redeemed starting at $50. Customer needs to make a phone call to request the check
Anyway, I don't think I will benefit from the changes though. The additional cashback associated with cash advance and balance transfer cannot even earn back the transaction fees. But I can see Citi wants to not only attract "savers" like me, but also "spenders" now.
