As part of my new year resolution to dig myself out from the dismal 2004 portfolio performance, today I sold my entire holdings of Talk America (Symbol: TALK) in my Roth IRA account.
It has been more than 8 months since I conducted my last trade. If you check out my transaction history, you will find I acquired my 290 shares of TALK about a year ago at $10.36 a piece. Today, I only fetched $6.29. Netting commissions, my net loss is $1,210.
The original reasons I bought TALK was its compelling value story. However, TALK was soon hit hard by the changing regulation dymanics and its stock price has been under pressure since last June. From what I see, I no longer believe TALK will be able to revive from the unfavorable regulation atmosphere, and there is no reason for me to hold onto this falling knife.
My portfolio is still in a shaky mode at best, but it's an important first step to a big cleanup. Keep tuned.
