How Much Are Our Public Servants Making?

Do you know how much President Bush and other top political figures in our country are making every year? Here is an interesting tabloid from Infoplease. Bush has been making $400,000 a year since 2001, and Cheney is pulling in salary at half that speed.

The complete list is here:

Position  Salary
President
  1789  $       25,000
  1873  $       50,000
  1909  $       75,000
  1949  $     100,000
  1969  $     200,000
  2001  $     400,000
Vice President  $     202,900
Senator  $     158,000
Representative  $     158,000
Majority and Minority Leaders  $     175,600
Speaker of the House  $     202,900
Chief Justice, U.S. Supreme Court  $     202,900
Assoc. Justice, U.S. Supreme Court  $     194,200

By the way, the same site also keeps some other great information. The Presidents' Occupations section is particularly fun to read. You might find both Harry S. Truman and James Earl Carter, Jr. used to be a farmer, John Fitzgerald Kennedy was a journalist, and Lyndon Baines Johnson was once a schoolteacher. Also, almost every president after Truman became a write after leaving the Oval Office.
