Recently I discovered MagazinePriceSearch.com, a great resource that compares magazine subscription prices from dozens of online magazine outlets. The price revealed by the site is considerably less than what I can find from my comparison shopping experiences.
For example, I subscribed to BusinessWeek at $40/year. According to MagazinePriceSearch, the best deal is $23.96/year from BestDealMagazines.com for 51 issues.
I also quoted the following prices for magazines I'm subscribing to:
Fortune: $4.76 for 28 issues, or $46.48 for 56 issues
Forbes: $17.97 for 26 issues, or $35.94 for 52 issues
Money: $4.76 for 13 issues, or $29.95 for 26 issues
SmartMoney: $6.99 for 12 issues, or $11.96 for 24 issues
Kiplinger's Personal Finance: $9.95 for 12 issues
This can be a place I find some extra money for my 2004 CFI initiatives (see my 2003 report here).
A word of caution: this should not replace your own due diligence.
As an example, MagazinePriceSearch gives out a best-deal price for People magazine as $103.20 for 52 issues, or $1.98 per issue. My prior research yields a net per-issue price of $1.53.
