Be On The Lookout For These Tax Statements



Another timely article from Bankrate reminds us of the tax forms we should collect -- no matter we decide to file by our own or use tax pros. Below is a quick breakdown:

What You Can Expect by End of January:

W-2: Earned income from employers
1098: (Homeowner) Mortgage interest and property tax payment
1098-E: Student loan interest
1099-INT: Interest you earned on savings, CDs, etc.
1099-DIV: Dividends and capital gains from stocks and mutual funds
1099-B: Stock, bond and mutual fund sales
1099-G: State or local tax refund
1099-R: Pension income or distribution from IRA or other retirement plan
1099-MISC: Self-employed income

Forms That Might Arrive Late

Form 5498: Contribution to retirement plans
Schedule K-1: Money from estate, trust, partnership or an S corporation
