A Week's Worth At PFBlog Network #7

The Personal Finance Bloggers' Network is almost two months old now. For the first time, the weekly traffic to the network is higher than that to my original pfblog. To me, this underscores the power of having more than one voices sharing diversified opinions with a central theme.

As usual, I'm providing a weekly summary of highlights at PFBlog Network. Enjoy!

Bloggers' Personal Stories

• VOIP is entering Canada, but our blogger Arbee decided against a switch.
• Jim continued its house hunting, now in its third month. Here is a list of his previous posts on this topic.
• JLP disclosed his prior investment on SilverKing Communications, now the well-known InterActiveCorp.
• MM has 73 accounts tracked in his personal finance software. How many accounts do you have?

Personal Finance Resources

• Want some free money? Jim summarized the outstanding Citibank promotions for checking accounts. You can get $100, $200 or a free iPod Shuffle.
• Sadi reported NY Times' series "Class in America". Find out how your education, wealth, income and occupation stack up.
• Book recommendation: Time is Money.
• Some good money quotes from Free Money Finance. (For one, "Lack of money is the root of all evil." -- George Bernard Shaw.)
• Arbee checked out RiskGrades, a quantitative system of measuring risks.
• BA's daily scripting of Jim Cramer's Mad Money is attracting a lot of traffic these days. (This week: 5/9, 5/10, 5/11, 5/12, 5/13)
• Flexo reviews the payout of an MBA degree.
• Prospect reviewed the BMR Housing (or Below-Market-Rate Housing) in California, a program designed to offer affordable housing to average people.
• JLP found out Yahoo Finance now includes corporate governance scores in its company profiles.

Personal Finance News and Tips

• Organize your finance! Follow JLP's quick list: Part 1, Part 2.
• How to pay off your mounting debt? Nickel ran the math and demonstrated why it is always good to pay off the debt with the highest interest first.
• Mrs. Money is arguing a stay-at-home mom is providing services worth $131,471 per year.
• How to save hundreds on your cooling bill? Follow FMF's advice: Part 1, Part 2.
• Arbee listed the top-yielding saving accounts in Canada.
• For all happy customers of Citi cards, Nickel advised us to sign up for the Click-to-Pay program well in advance to avoid late payments.
• More ideas from FMF on how to generate more cash. (Don't miss the first episode.)
