Frequent readers of this site remember that I discuss several resources to get cheap magazine subscription (1, 2 and 3). Magazine subscription is one area where suppliers are charging dramatically different prices to consumers of the same product. An unsuspecting consumer can easily overpay by more than 1000% for no additional benefit.
Recently I noticed a lot of magazines can be subscribed thru eBay sellers for literally nothing. For example, Forbes subscription can be get at $4.99 net for four years, Kiplinger's Personal Finance is trading at $3.49 for three year subscription, and Wall Street Journal can be subcribed for $37.49 for 6 months.
Most amazingly, one seller is offering 2-to-4 year subscription to 13 magazines for only $7.99 ($4.99 plus $3.00 shipping and handling).
Most of the sellers have accumulated hundred of eBay feedbacks with a positive feedback percentage of 99% or higher, so it appears that these offers are genuine.
Of course, not all publications are selling at those dirty-cheap prices, but compared to Amazon or dedicated magazine subscription sites like NetMagazines.com and Magazines.com, eBay deals can usually save you another 60%-70% at the very least.
I paid $136 last year for magazine subscription (at already low prices). So far this year I paid out $22 and I expect I can save at least $50 from subscribing thru eBay sellers.
