Jim Cramer's Mad Money - July 7, 2005

Cramer started off the show discussing terrorism and its effect on the markets. He believes that We arent mercenaries, were realists and that any fallout from today would be positive because the cause becomes shared. He believes that after September 11, 2001 the notion of terrorism as an exogenous event ended. Today was a chance to buy defensive and tech stocks, sell bank stocks which are vulnerable.

Cramers Rule #7 Nobody ever made a dime panicking

Tech
Cramer reiterated his belief that there will soon be a monster tech rally coming just four weeks from now.

Security
Cramer is bearish on the security plays on the London bombings and wants you to sell every single one of them.

Banks
To end the show Tom Brown, CEO of Bankstocks.com joined Cramer and discussed the banks. Brown believes that it is and is going to be a tough environment for the banks. Brown believes Commerce Bank (CBH) is the best bank in the country. Brown would sell Bank of America (BAC) he believes they are doomed to single digit growth for as far as the eyes can see. Cramer is now bearish on the banks and believes that you should have no more than 7% of your portfolio in banks at this point.

This summary is done for you and I to be able to better track and follow Jim Cramers comments. ACCURACY IS NOT GUARANTEED but is however strived for.

NOTE: I've added today's closing price to each of the stocks listed below. The "m" next to the stock symbol links to the stock on moneycentral.msn.com while the "y" does the same to finance.yahoo.com. Clicking on the symbol itself takes you to a Google search of the website for that symbol.

"Bull", "Bear", "Best of Breed" and other marks can be inferred and don't necessarily need to be stated directly for me to record them as such.mortgage calculator

what does ring the register mean?

>>> BA Commented on July 08, 2005

Jim-

Ring the register is the term Cramer uses to suggest locking in some gains and selling a bit of the stock. It is his way of not becoming overly greedy on stocks that have moved up quickly.

I think he is a bull on Garmin LTD GRMN but was interrupted by the buzzer before he could get the words out. He said "I actually like the global positioning business" buzz, buzz, buzz. He mentioned NovAtel NGPS also but I couldn't tell if it was good or bad.

Does anybody use his paid ActionAlert service? Seems like $400/year to know what he is buying and selling is a bit steep. But considering this is the same guy that made 24%/year (after fees) while he ran his hedge fund, maybe its worth it? Just curious to know who used it and what they felt about it.
