Jim Cramer's Mad Money - May 4, 2005
Hallelujah day in the market
Bears got killed today hedge funds were short the market
GWERQYS Google (GOOG), Whole Foods (WFMI), Ebay (EBAY), Research in Motion (RIMM), Qualcomm (QCOM), Yahoo (YHOO), and Starbucks (SBUX) are the stocks that these hedge funds are the most short.
WFMI Fantastic numbers after the close
EBAY like it for a trade
QCOM Like it for a trade
SBUX It is so hated now by the market
If I were at my hedge fund Id go after the GARP (Growth At a Reasonable Price) stocks because they are ALWAYS heavily shorted by every hedge fund.
CBH - Commerce Bancorp, Inc. - Bull - run in the way that McDonalds was run 20 years ago - for service - owns it
DLTR - Dollar Tree Stores, Inc. - BEAR - don't like it or the other dollar store - buy SHLD instead
VLO - Valero Energy Corp. - Tough here. Sticking to my buy it below 67 recommendation - but I think there are better oils
UPL - Ultra Petroleum Corp. - BULL - one of the better oils - its going higher
VIAb - Viacom Inc. - BULL - probably good here, not as good as Time Warner (TWX) at 17 though
NWL - Newell Rubbermaid Inc. - DIVE - no no no, May have the worst CEO in America - short it and I don't usually recommend shorts on the show
PX - Praxair, Inc. - BULL - think 5% move up then sell
URBN - Urban Outfitters, Inc. - I just sold URBN - only want to have 1 retailer and that's SHLD
CZR - Caesars Entertainment, Inc. - Loveman is the best CEO, including the BYD guy, hold on to it. BULL - adding to only owning one casino to include this stock too
Disclaimer: I AM NOT JIM CRAMER. I sometimes write the summary in first person because my brain doesn't quite move fast enough to process and type at the same time, so please excuse that. This blog has no affiliation with Jim Cramer, CNBC, or Mad Money. This is done for me and you to be able to better follow and track Cramers comments, the show goes by quickly so I try and catch as many key words as possible for each pick. ACCURACY IS NOT GUARANTEED but is however strived for.
HDI - Harley-Davidson, Inc. - Ring the register - Sell it - bad quarter - use the strength to lighten up
HET - Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. - BULL - all aboard
QCOM - QUALCOMM, Inc. - Buy here - sell it at 40 smackers - hedge fund gut is telling me
CAG - ConAgra Foods, Inc. - horrible quarter - ring the register
XOM - Exxon Mobil Corporation - swap out of it and get into COP
COP ConocoPhillips Get into this over XOM
PKZ - PetroKazakhstan Inc. (USA) - Other oil I don't want to own - BEAR - Putin thinks he's Stalin
BIIB - Biogen Idec Inc - BULL - be careful though because prices north of 40 will bring out massive selling
IO - Input/Output, Inc. - Push - like the industry but not the company
ASPM - Aspect Medical Systems - looks a lot like Renal which was up big on a takeover - bless it for a trade - BULL
EIX - Edison International - BULL - like it and Pacific Gas and Electric
LEH - Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. - Companies are cheap, like them with the 30 year Bond reopening - whole lot of merchandise coming their way
GS - Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. - Companies are cheap, like them with the 30 year Bond reopening - whole lot of merchandise coming their way
BSC - Bear Stearns Companies Inc., T - Companies are cheap, like them with the 30 year Bond reopening - whole lot of merchandise coming their way
STKL - SunOpta, Inc. (USA) - Supplier to WFMI
CHK - Chesapeake Energy Corporation - unfairly sold off - think is a buy under 20
EBAY - eBay Inc. - BULL - only for a trade, own it from 34 to 37 then ring the register
GILD - Gilead Sciences, Inc. - BULL - what's not to like about it? BIIB, DNA, GENZ - like them all and biotech here
GENZ Genzyme Corporation Like it and biotech here
DNA Genentech, Inc. Like it and biotech here
GME - GameStop Corp. - This is the play into the fall NOT ERTS, like the ELBO merger
AAPL - Apple Computer, Inc. - iPods no longer in tight supply, stock goes to 40 ring the register
GLW - Corning Incorporated - I'm a buyer, two thumbs up
SHLD - Sears Holdings Corporation - Steve Roth of Vornado thinks SHLD has an upward bias. BUY it. If I were at my hedge fund Sears Holdings would be my largest position.
GM - General Motors - Confident its not done going up because you can't borrow a share. Kerkorian's buy could save GM from chapter 11.
RIMM - Research In Motion Ltd. (USA) - Talked w/ CEO. For the next 48 hours - BULL - buy it up to 75
SBL - Symbol Technologies - Talked w/ William Nuti - CEO. Macro concerns shouldn't stop them from having a record quarter like they say they did. Other companies dealt with them fine. That said, the time to sell was higher, to cut and run now is probably plain stupid.
DUK - Duke Energy Corporation - Absolute favorite utility - Anderson is the most refreshing CEO
MET - MetLife, Inc. - good CEO - think its the first of many great quarters to come
UNH - UnitedHealth Group Inc. - 2 for 1 split and they kept the dividend the same. That's a gigantic boost. Dividend growth is the key to long term valuation. BULL. I'd be buying this hand over fist at my hedge fund.
274,000 Jobs created. Wall Street Expected 175,000. Good News is Bad News. Strong jobs number this morning changes view of economy. BEAR youve got to ring the register when this happens and thats what happened today. I dont want good news as a stockholder ... Read

I don't like ICOS here. If you want to be in biotech go for the big gun - Genentech - symbol DNA.
