Individual Medical Ins.: This could be good news for early retirees!

AARP has teamed with United Heath to offer major medical insurance. At least in my state the offering is unique in one key area: If you have been under a qualified plan for at least 1-year (with your employer for example), and have used your Cobra extension, you can join the plan with no physical and no exclusions for preexisting conditions (i.e. coverage can NOT be denied for preexisting conditions). There are however three price brackets, so individuals in good health are rewarded with lower premiums.

This plan removes the Catch 22 early retirees can find themselves in when they want (or need) to retire early, but have experienced heath related difficulties. Now given you meet AARP's criteria, you can be assured of decent health insurance coverage. Rates and details can be found at AARP.

To me this is very, very good news in that I can probably drop Assurant. Visit the link for details and rates in your state.
