Costco to offer Individual Health Insurance?

According to a snippet in Time magazine, Costco is pilot testing the sale of individual medical insurance. Coverage is provided in partnership with Pacific Care Health Systems.

Costco states they hope to make coverage available at a cost 5% to 20% less than comparable policies now on the market. Plus, of course, their $100 annual fee.

My opinion: Costco's involvement does nothing to fix our nation's current medical insurance problems. That aside, consumers should still benefit by the introduction of price competition from a national discounter.
