Tivo Saved Our Marriage

For Christmas, Mrs. Money Matters and her husband decided to give eachother Tivo. Tivo is the best thing that has happened in television in a long time. Tivo is a DVR-digital video recorder. It records the shows you tell it to. It also does a season pass which will record the whole season of your favorite show. By recording my favorite shows, I can watch them whenever I like. This is great for Mrs. Money Matters, because by the time I can actually sit down and watch TV (about a ½-1 hour daily), I do not want to spend time flipping the channels. Because Tivo can pause, rewind, and forward, you can skip the commercials, which saves you tons of time.

Now I can watch all my shows at my convenience: Oprah, The Apprentice, Nanny 911, Dr. Phil, and Six Feet Under. My husband can record his shows too. We are a closer tv watcing couple because of Tivo. We discuss our tv options before viewing and flipping endlessly through channels has become a thing of the past.

Tivo is offering a special now for $99 and up. If you have Direct TV check out their special for $50 with a rebate. Comcast has their own DVR but does not offer info about pricing on their web site.

Bottom line, get Tivo, you will not regret it.

I agree. We use the DVR that you can get through Dish Network so it's not as good as a Tivo but it still has completely changed the way we watch TV. We almost never watch shows when they air anymore - now we watch them when we want to. Plus I record the shows I want to watch (old and new SNLs, G4 shows, etc.) and my wife records the shows she wants to watch (CSI, CSI:NY, CSI: Miami...I'm sensing a pattern here). And we jump through all commercials. It's so hard to visit friends and families houses if we watch TV there because we are spoiled. And our 4 year old daughters don't know TV any differenly, they want to jump commercials at all times whether or not we can.
