Cost of Cars Again

Then why do I drive a Honda? Well let me tell you. I have owned the Honda for 10 years. It has been the best investment I have ever made. The Honda Accord is very reliable. I have not had any major problems with it to date. My Honda is fully paid for, so there are no car monthly car payments. It gets high gas mileage per gallon. And, if my paint gets chipped, it does not bother me, like it would on a new Mercedes.

I am maximizing its useful life. In accounting terms: The length of time that a depreciable asset is expected to be useable. While most of my friends are driving newer cars, the Honda is still working for me. The older it gets, the dearer to my heart it becomes. But I am scoping out the next car, which will be a minivan. Yes, the minivan. Not as sexy as the Mercedes, but it will get the job done better for my family.

My philosophy on cars is that you should never buy a brand new car because it depreciates by about $2500 the moment you drive it out of the dealership. If you are looking for a new car or want to sell your card, try Autotrader. They will post your car to their site for $15.00-$79.00. If you chose a higher end ad package, your car will be listed on autotrader.com until it sells. You can browse by car make, price, and zip code. There is also a section for brand new cars and quotes. This site is a useful tool for window shopping. I have been checking out all the minivans on this site.

I drive a 1991 Accord and dread the day when it finally dies. What a great car. As far as minivans go, we have a 2004 Odyssey and are very happy with it. Good luck whenever it comes time to replace it.

I recently parted ways with my 92 Honda Accord with 250,000 miles. It was sad, but I upgraded to an Acura MDX with a 2.9% financing Xmas deal. The Honda was working fine but after two years of thinking it over, I realized life is too short and I want the enjoyment of a luxury car and am willing to pay the price. We only get to experience our young years once and am enjoying my MDX every day.
