Why Hire an Accountant?

If you are like Mrs. Money Matters, you don't have extra time in the evenings or weekend for anything expect your husband and baby, especially for something like "doing taxes". This year things changed in our household.

Mrs. Money Matters hired a CPA for the first time this year to do the family taxes. We have been married four years and have always done our taxes ourselves until this year. Each year we suffer through TurboTax or TaxCut Don’t get me wrong, these are superb programs, but when you are dealing with self employed income and expenses (my husband), children, stock, and a mortgage, doing your own taxes can get really hairy and stress you out. Also self employed people have to pay quarterly taxes, which can be taxing (figure of speech).

Part of me did not want to hire him because I did not want to give up control over the finances, but getting a professional to do the job, really made our lives better because it put a buffer between Mrs. Money and her husband. The results were fantastic! Last week we received a package which contained our finished taxes and complete instructions on how much we owe to the state and federal government.

The bottom line is your time-to-value-to-frustration level. Paying a CPA to do our taxes relieved our stress levels and is better for our marriage. Look herefor a CPA or look at the famous H&R Block
