Free Gas from Mobil Speedpass

Mobil is offering $.05 off each gallon of gas (up to $20) for folks who sign up for Mobil Speedpass by August 31. The rebate is good for 90 days. Speedpass is pretty convenient and this is a tempting offer. My own gasoline usage is too low to make this offer worth more than a few dollars to me - but for someone with a big SUV or a long commute (or both!) this might be worthwhile.

The best gasoline deal I have found is still the Citibank Dividend Platinum Select Card - this is the card that gives you 5% cash back on gas, groceries and drugstore purchases and 1% cash back on everything else.

Current Discover card members, well, maybe not all of them - I don't know, can get 5% back on gas and amusement park purchases through the end of August when they sign up with the current promotion.

So, until the end of August, if you have a Discover card, you don't need to apply for a Citi Dividend card if you don't have one to get 5% back on gasoline.

The gas station I frequent charges $0.10 to $0.15 less per gallon than the ExxonMobil next door. With the Citibank Dividend Platinum Select Rewards card discount on top, it's hard to beat.
