Just when I thought I had it all figured out, it turns out that the 'new and improved' Kroger gas discount is better than I thought (but worse than it used to be). According to the signs on the pumps, you can still get $0.10/gallon discount for spending $100 on groceries. Moreover, you can get an extra $0.05/gallon discount for paying with a Kroger 1-2-3 Rewards MasterCard. So they've basically replaced the $0.03/gallon discount for swiping you card with an additional $0.05/gallon discount when you: (1) spend $100 on groceries, and (2) pay for your gas with the Kroger 1-2-3 Rewards MasterCard. Like I said, better than I originally though, but you're probably still better off getting the $0.10/gallon discount for your grocery purchase and then paying for it with a standard 5% reward card, such as the Citi Dividend Platinum MasterCard.
