Kroger Gas Discount Comes to an End
I was grocery shopping at Kroger (KR) the other night when I noticed something interesting (and disappointing) at the bottom of my receipt... It seems that the gas discount for Kroger Plus Card holders is coming to an end on May 6th. If you're not familiar with their discount program, you get a base discount of $0.03 off per gallon at Kroger Fuel Centers when you scan your Kroger Plus Card, increasing to $0.10/gallon whenever for every $100 that you spend on groceries. While they state that they'll be replacing this deal with a discount of "up to" $0.15/gallon when you use the Kroger 1-2-3 Rewards MasterCard, I'd be willing to bet that this won't end up being as good of a deal for Kroger customers. Thus far, I haven't been able to find any further details -- the blurb on the receipt said to check their May 7th circular for details.
Oh, and I should also note that I ended up paying more for a gallon of gas than a gallon of milk that night -- if only someone could invent a milk-powered car!

Given all the recent news about high prices at the pump, there's been a lot of talk about fueld efficient cars. While it's pretty easy to pull up a list of the highest mileage cars on the market, it's less straightforward to come up with ... Read

In view of the high gas prices, I thought I'd post this little tidbit: Did you know that aggressive driving with jack rabbit starts and hard braking at traffic signals will save about 2 minutes on a 60-mile trip? The same driving cuts fuel ... Read
I've written in the past about the accuracy (or not) of EPA gas mileage estimates, and I also chronicled our purchase of a 2005 Honda CR-V (LX, 2WD). Being a bit of a stats freak, I thought that it might be interesting to take a ... Read
First off, you can save 5% off gas with the Citi dividend card, so who cares about the Kroger deal. Next, the milk you're buying is devoid of any nutritional value, so you'd be better off not drinking it at all and then you'd have more $ to pay for gas. But you wouldn't care so much about the cost of gas if you drove something more fuel efficient.
Wow, someone sounds a little bitter. Who cares about the Kroger deal? Me. Because I used my Citi card to get 5% off PLUS I got $0.10 off per gallon. And milk is devoid of nutritional value? What are you smoking?
Approximately fifty percent of the country is obese. If you are overweight, maybe its time you do yourself a favor and investigate why. Hint: its not hereditary. Any beverage or food that is pastuerized loses immense nutritional value including all enzymes. You probably think juice is healthy too. Enzymes are the catalyst for numerous metabolic functions, and without them, the food is dead. Do you even have any idea of where the white liquid you so hope is healthy even comes from. Chances are it is from some farm factory where the animals are so pumped up on hormones and antibiotics that there is no way what comes out of their bodies is close to healthy. Modern dairy products are no good for anyone, just like the three other "white devils", sugar, salt, and flour. And once again, you wouldn't care what the cost of fuel was if you drove something more fuel efficient.
