Money Poll #4: Carrying a Credit Card Balance

As a followup to last week's credit card poll, I thought I'd follow it up with a poll about credit card payment habits. So, without further ado, I bring you Money Poll #4. The question of the week is "Do you typically carry a credit card balance?" And when I ask this, I should note that I'm not talking about carrying a balance on a 0% promo solely to earn interest when you deposit the balance in the bank. Rather, I'm talking about carrying a 'normal' balance from one month to the next. As with previous polls, I'll go first...

In the 15+ years that I've had credit cards, I have never (not even once) carried a balance from one month to the next, not even by accident. And neither has my wife.

With that said, let's get to the credit card balance poll (<-- Click that link to get there)...

Hello. FYI, This is a biased poll. When you said you never in over 15 years carried a balance, you tainted the responses. Next time, avoid commentary if you want to want to run real research.

Karen,

First off, this isn't intended to be a 'real' scientific poll. Rather, I'm just trying to get a feel for how people that happen across my site tend to think about money. There are actually much bigger issues than my personal disclosure that are at work here -- for example, if I was truly worried about running 'real research,' then I wouldn't place a poll like this on a personal finance weblog. Clearly, the readership that will happen across it is far from a random sample. Also, all responses are anonymous (even comments, if people wish them to be), so I seriously doubt that my disclosure will shame people into not answering, or changing their answer (this seems to be what you are implying will happen).
