National Tax Advice Day

Just a quick note to let you all know about National Tax Advice Day, which took place this past Thursday (the day before the e-filing season officially opened). This effort represents a nationwide initiative on the part of H&R Block to raise public awareness of the biggest changes to the tax code and the most common filing mistakes. Their website features a tax preparation checklist, a bunch of tax advice, and a variety of calculators for estimating your refund. If you're gearing up to file your taxes, it might be worth a look.

How Flexible Spending Accounts SHOULD Work (August 15, 2005)
The 'use-it-or-lose-it' provision of tax-exempt flexible spending accounts really, really irks me. I just don't get why it is that unspent money should be forfeited at the end of the year. Why should honest, hard-working people be penalized if they have an unexpectedly good year ... Read
