Call 411 for Free
Have you ever wanted to call 411 to get a quick phone number without paying the obnoxiously large fee? If so, then the good folks at Jingle Networks have just the thing for you... Simply dial 1-800-FREE-411 (1-800-373-3411) and proceed as usual. The only price you'll pay is having to listen to a short (10 second) ad while they look up the information (although I didn't even get an ad when I tested out the service).
The advertising model in use here is actually kind of interesting, as they try to match you up with an ad for one of the competitors of the party whose number you're searching for (assuming it's a business). Since they use the same data that the carriers use, the information is every bit as good as what you'd get on a regular 411 call. So why pay for it? Scribble this number down next to your phone, or program it into your cell (right now!) so you'll have it when you need it.
