Bill Gates' Successful Drug Investment

Bill Gates is making a killing in Icos (ICOS). I have no doubt he is the sharpest men in this world and he will be as successful in his charitable efforts as he is in Microsoft.

From USA Today:

How's this for a profitable investment return? Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates invested $21 million in biotech drug maker Icos starting in 1990. Icos developed Cialis, one of three impotence drugs in a class made most famous by Pfizer's Viagra.

Today, the company's marketing partner -- Eli Lilly -- said it will gain full ownership of Cialis by buying Icos for $2.1 billion. Lilly is paying $32 per share cash for each Icos share, a premium of about 18% over Monday's closing price. Under the deal, Gates' 5.4 million shares are worth $173.5 million.
