GE Retail Consumer Finance Issues ShopNBC MasterCard

Yes, I can understand people may want a BestBuy or Target-branded credit card, because you will either buy big or buy often, but an NBC-branded card? Who will repeatedly buy from NBC?

From CardWeb:

A top home-shopping network and Internet retailer is now offering a MasterCard credit card and a beefed-up store credit card. The new "ShopNBC MasterCard" will offer a rewards program and the "ShopNBC Credit Card" will offer a broader range of credit options. Both cards offer 3 points per $1 spent at ShopNBC and 1 point per $1 everywhere else MasterCard is accepted. Cardholders receive a $50 "ShopNBC Reward Certificate" for every 5,000 points earned. A bonus of 2,500 points is awarded after the first card purchase. ValueVision Media, which operates ShopNBC, has teamed with GE Retail Consumer Finance to expand its credit card programs. ShopNBC television reaches more than 65 million households and is one of the top three television shopping networks in the U.S.
