The Lottery Credit Card That Gives Out $580,000

Two years ago, I blogged about the American DreamCard issued by HSBC. The card will pay out at least $25,000 of prize money to one luck cardholder, and the more you charge, the most chances you have to win the lottery.

It seems that the card has a number of followers now. Though seemingly attractive, American DreamCard still does not make a good reward card. As I explained two years ago, "If you believe in your luck in such games, you will be better off by charging your cashback card, and using the cashback check to buy scratch tickets in grocery stores -- the payout rate on scratch tickets is usually between 50% and 60%."

From CardWeb:

An innovative credit card launched two years ago has awarded $580,000 in prize money to-date. The "American DreamCard MasterCard" has a monthly sweepstakes jackpot that starts at $25,000. Cardholders receive 1,000 free entries when they apply for the card and earn an entry for every dollar spent on the card, up to 1,000 entries per purchase. Drawings are held on or about the 15th of each month.

The card has no annual fee, a 0% introductory rate on purchases for the first five months of membership, and a reasonably low interest rate for purchases.
