Cnooc's Unocal Bid Draws U.S. Legislators' Scrutiny





Is this still free trade?

From Wall Street Journal:

The 41 members of Congress do not raise any prospect for legislation, and fall far short of representing a voting bloc that could pass a bill in the House.

But they do show that there is a vanguard of China skeptics in Congress, who could agitate against a deal if it were to progress.

It called for an immediate examination of the proposal by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, a government group chaired by the Treasury Dept. that reviews foreign acquisitions.
