K.D. Matthews, a receptionist at Dallas-based home builder Centex Corp., made the most of her employee perks when she recently purchased a home in Denton, Texas, a Dallas suburb. She and her husband J.R. paid $136,000 for the home, with the help of her 5% employee discount. Ms. Matthews, 24 years old, also reaped savings using the company's mortgage and pest-control and termite-inspection units.
"The whole process was wonderful, from start to finish. They helped us through all the paperwork," Ms. Matthews says. "We really felt like we had someone watching out for us."
