End of Quarter Push
Working in an enviroment that pays for performance can be challenging and rewarding. I'm in a situation where a portion of my pay is determined by the amount of software I sell on both a quarterly and annual basis. Commission-based selling is definitely challenging & rewarding, but can sometimes be painful & stressful.
The quarter-end is only 9.5 days away, and during this period of time I need to find an additional $44,202 in sales to achieve my quarterly bonus ($2,500). I have enough opportunities identified to reach this goal. However, I have learned that there are an infinite number of possible directions a software deal can go. So, I'm definitely not counting any chickens (or dollars) at this point.
Good news one minute, bad news the next -- the trademark of my sales career.
My compensation plan consists of 2 different buckets of money that I can access. The first is a percentage paid on every dollar of business that books, and is then paid by the customer. The second is derived from quarterly goal bonuses and an annual bonus, if I hit my sales quota.
Stay tuned to see if I find enough business to get me (and my management) to goal for the quarter.
