June '05 - Pf Goals

This is my first month of setting financial goals and tracking my progress via the Common Cents blog. The items below is what I plan to work on during the month of June. I'll update my progress along the way.

  • Develop a system to track my Net Worth. Most likely this will be in excel to begin with (I'm already a heavy Quicken & Pocket Quicken user). Target to have this done is June 15th.
  • Determine which ratios & measures are needed to create my Personal Finance Dashboard.
  • Do I also need a retirement tracking device as well?
  • Research insurance options for engagement rings and figure out if I really need it.
  • More wedding stuff -- we have to order invitations this month. How much can we do ourselves? Can we save money on this part of the wedding?

You probably need insurance on the engagement ring.
In my policy it is called a personal articles floater, with no deductible, and includes losses in the house, or out, traveling or close, accidental or criminal. The cost is about $200 a year.

^ Thanks for the advice! That sounds exactly like the policy I'm looking for.
