Advancing Common Cents
Welcome to Common Cents, my experience in blogging. I have joined the PfBlog network to promote the importance of Personal Finance in our lives. I'll discuss why I chose the name "Common Cents" later on this week. For now, please read on below to find out a little more about me and what you can expect from Common Cents.
I'm from North Carolina, where the red dirt comes from. I grew up in the muddy rows of a small farming community. After college I moved to a suburb of Raleigh, where I own my home and work in sales at a large software company. I'm 26, engaged to be married in September, and half-way through a MBA program. I look forward to sharing more about myself through Common Cents.
I have spent a considerable amount of time figuring out how I want to present my view of personal finance. I think that education, especially reading as much as possible, is key to success. Here's a preview of what's to come, organized in the categories I have created so far.
Financial Goals - This is where I will discuss my financial goals. I'll update these goals monthly beginning on June 1, 2005 and will provide a couple of updates throughout the month.
Personal Finance - The bulk of my opinions on how to save more money, make more money, and manage more money will be found here. I want this to be an interactive section, where we can discuss and learn together.
Economics - I love the study of economics -- from macro-economics on a country-level to micro-economics which apply to a certain industry or company. I recognize that economics and personal finance overlap sometimes,
but anything that is inherently economics, I'll put in this category.
For Richer or Poorer - I'm getting married in September and I'm sure the merging of 2 sets of financial states of mind will present many educational (and entertaining) situations.
Other - Every list has to have an option for "other". Book reviews, music reviews, and general rants will live here.
I look forward to sharing more and learning together. Feel free to introduce yourself in the comments section below!

Here's a Friday-fun post. I'm going to spend $50 dollars on a baseball cap this summer. No, it's not an ebay sports memorabilia purchase or cap made of gold, rather a brand new baseball cap from my favorite team -- the Tampa Bay Devil Rays ... Read
