The country is obivously still reeling from Katrina. While talking about anything else makes little sense, with every blogger already writing about the event, evaluating governmental response, placing blame, and/or declaring on how they will give money to support those seeking refuge, I feel like the topic has been talked out.

The logical conclusion of the above explains the relative lack of new posts here.

Yesterday, I discovered several bits of personal minutiae: I have (had) relatives in New Orleans, one was to be married next month in the city, they had safely evacuated the city ahead of time, they are staying in New York, and the wedding will be postponed.

Now, in the interest of saying more about Katrina, the Congressional Budget Office predicts that the hurricane will cause the loss of 400,000 jobs. The displaced persons will need to find work somewhere. Some will not want to move back to New Orleans, putting pressure on the job market at their destination, but perhaps some will be able to help with rebuilding their city.
