Online Grocery Store Comparisons Tools
I was just thinking today about how they should have a service out there that compiles all the circulars and lets you search them online. Then, as I'm scouring Sound Money Tips (add them to your RSS, they give quick money saving tips everyday) they have a post about two grocery store comparison sites: Cairo and ShopLocal. For both sites you can add them to your shopping list and then print them out so you know exactly where to get the best deal on which products.
I like Cairo more than ShopLocal because the search box on Cairo lets you first type in the Zip Code and then the product name, with ShopLocal you first set which zip code, then the product search occurs on a separate page - which means switching zip codes is harder. However, with a 25 mile search radius (up to 50 miles) this isn't that big of a deal. What's also cool about Cairo also is that they include snapshots of the grocery store's circular as well as a price drop alert feature that, while very cool, I don't see myself really using; ShopLocal doesn't provide screenshots and the number of their results (I searched on Coca-Cola in Columbia, MD) were fewer.
Dawn from FrugalForLife, who hadn't seen them before, wasn't a fan of either of these sites (difficult to navigate) and suggested I take a look at CouponMom. CouponMom is absolutely amazing. They list, by state, the best deals and what coupons to use to yield the greatest savings possible. It's as if someone went through the list of coupons, matched it up with what they found in a circular, and then posted it all for FREE.
Are there any of these services out there that you use? I remember FatWallet used to have a coupon section where people would discuss this sort of thing but that was phased out (probably because it didn't make any money) so people have gone to sites like Bargainshare. Let me know if you absolutely love a particular site.
